The Present Google Penalties That May Harm Your Website

Are you afraid of Google`s penalties? Of course, you are. Google penalty recovery is a hard way, so finding out that your website has disappeared from the search results is the worst nightmare of every SEO specialist. There is only one way to protect your site from Google`s penalties — to learn what kind of penalties Google uses and refrain from using the tools and methods prohibited by the company.

You can be penalized in two ways:

# 1 Manual. Your website is examined by a human, and if he notices that you have used any black hat methods or have violated any of Google`s rules or guidelines, your site gets penalized. As a rule, you receive a message that explains what for you have been punished; this is good news since you do not need to puzzle over the possible reasons for a penalty. One should note that in the case of a manual penalty, both the whole website and certain parts of it can be hit. These are the possible reasons for a manual penalty:

1) A hacker attack. Your website can get penalized if it is hacked.

2) Unnatural links. These comprise the links to or from websites that are not related to yours, as well as all the other links that look suspicious.

3) Spam. All kinds of spam are prohibited by Google. Even in the case, you do not distribute spam yourself, and you can be punished for the spam generated by the users of your website. So, you had better keep an eye on them.

4) Poor-quality content. This point includes scraping, spinning and posting the generic and useless content that does not meet the users` needs.

5) Keyword stuffing, i.e. the actions that are aimed at manipulating the search ranking for certain keywords, e.g. including too many keywords in the content or meta tags.

6) Cloaking, i.e. showing different pages to Google`s bots and the users of your website. Hiding pictures, links, texts or keywords from bots or visitors is considered as cloaking. Sure, this list is not complete, the main point is that you should not try to hide anything from both users and bots.

# 2 Algorithmic. In the case of an algorithmic penalty, Google will not inform you about it. So, you had better constantly monitor the statistics of your website. You can get penalized every time Google releases a new update or refreshes an existent one. There can be dozens of reasons for an algorithmic penalty, let`s have a look at the most widespread ones:

1) Auto generated content. You can be punished in case you have translated some content with the help of the software and haven`t edited it or have rewrittten the content from others` websites using the databases of synonyms and the corresponding software or have used any of similar black hat methods.

2) Links. It is not allowed to buy, sell or exchange links for products or services. If the algorithm detects that there are automated links to your website, you will also get penalized. Sure, you should not insert irrelevant links in your comments on other sites. In one word, to avoid penalties you should not use any black hat link building tactics.

3) Low-quality content. Both humans and algorithms can detect poor-quality content, which includes non-unique, unreadable and useless texts, videos and other materials.

4) Over-optimization. Keywords can both contribute to the high ranking of your website and make it disappear from the search results in case you use too many of them. To protect your website from a penalty, make sure that the density of keywords in your content does not exceed 2%. By the way, you can use LSI words instead of common keywords.

Sure, there can be other reasons for Google`s penalties. In fact, you can get penalized for any violation of Google`s rules or guidelines. Thus, it is advisable to keep track of and respect all of them.
